Recently completed, Fromebridge Mill is most certainly one of Gloucestershire's
most beautiful restaurants. Completely renovated, standing beside a vibrant
waterfall, lake and trout stream in 7 acres of grounds, this delightful setting
provides a relaxing, informal and even romantic air for those lunching or
dining at this top class venue.
With its almost unbroken history of commercial use, and predating the Doomsday
Book, the Fromebridge Mill is one of the most important and attractive mills
in Gloucestershire.
During its 1,000 year history the mill has seen many commercial activities
reflecting the changing fortunes of the county. Originally a corn mill, Fromebridge
changed ownership and usage many times, even to the manufacturing of wire
and steel, before coming full circle and reverting to its original use as
a corn mill.
Remarkably, water-power was used to operate the mill's machinery right up
to 1990. Following its sympathetic conversion - much of the original structure
remains - we are pleased that Fromebridge continues to serve the people of
Gloucestershire.
Eating
Fromebridge Mill is aimed at the discerning diner and drinker, offering quality food, fine hand-pulled cask conditioned ales and a wide choice of good value wines. Extensively staffed, first class service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere is assured
at this historic, waterside inn.
